## Getting to Champagne

Champagne is one of the most accessible wine regions from Paris. By **TGV**, Reims is about 45 minutes from Paris-Est, and Épernay is easily reached by regional train from Reims. By **car**, allow about 1h30 from the capital via the A4 motorway. Once there, a car (or a chauffeur-driven tour) remains the most practical way to explore the vineyard.

> Good to know: cellar tours include tastings. If you are driving, plan a designated driver or opt for a tour with transport included.

## When to go

The vineyard is stunning from **May to October**. Spring and summer offer lush landscapes and most houses open; **September**, the harvest season, is a highlight but very much in demand (book early). At year's end, Reims and Épernay light up with illuminations and festive events.

## Getting around

-   **Reims**: the major houses and chalk cellars are visited in town, often on foot or by tram.
-   **Épernay**: the Avenue de Champagne lines up several houses within a few hundred metres.
-   **The vineyard** (Montagne de Reims, Marne Valley, Côte des Blancs) is best explored by car, bike or an organised tour.

## Where to stay

Reims and Épernay offer the widest choice of accommodation, from boutique hotels to rooms in the heart of the vineyard. For a wine weekend, staying near the Avenue de Champagne or in a wine-growing village lets you enjoy the tastings without getting back on the road.
